Dynamic Business Development Districts

Fox Lake has two Business Development Districts that assist with incentivizing new businesses and existing business who are looking to expand.

Central Business Development District

The Central Business Development District of the Village serves as the vibrant heart of the community, blending small-town charm with dynamic commercial activity. Situated along Route 12 and throughout our downtown district, it is home to a variety of local businesses, restaurants and retail shops catering to both residents and visitors. The area boasts pedestrian-friendly layout with its walkability from the downtown Metra Station, while ongoing efforts aim to enhance its aesthetic appeal to economic vitality. Anchored by the Village’s commitment to growth and community engagement, the Central Business Development District plays a pivotal role in promoting local commerce and establishing Fox Lake as a regional destination.

South Business Development District

The South Business Development District is a growing commercial hub strategically positioned to support economic expansion and attract diverse businesses. With its prime location along major transportation corridors (such as Route 12, Route 134 and Route 59), the district offers excellent accessibility and visibility for retail, dining and service industries. Recent development initiatives have focused on infrastructure improvements and fostering business-friendly environment, encouraging investment and innovation. The district complements the Village’s broader economic development strategy by providing opportunities for job creation and increased tax revenue while maintaining the community’s welcome atmosphere. As a vital part of Fox Lake’s future, the South Business Development District reflects the Village’s dedication to balanced growth and regional competitiveness.
